cynically cute
Someone recommended Full Moon wo Sagashite to me on the grounds that I like cute things.
Well, there are some things that are just TOO cute. Bleh bleh bleh. Turns out it's from the same mind that produced Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, which left a bad taste in my mouth. It and FMoS suffer from the same... manufactured quality where everything is calculated for maximum toyeticness and panders to the fragile teenage psyche. The cuteness feels forced and inorganic, and the plots well over with pathos and all the spontaneity of an afternoon soap opera. It's that kind of stuff that gives shoujo a bad name.
